A Summer Well Served: Our Partnership with the WFU AmeriCorps Program

This summer, CFEC had the privilege of partnering with the Wake Forest University AmeriCorps Program, an initiative built around a simple but powerful idea - young adults serving alongside nonprofits and government agencies to create sustainable change and tackle local public health challenges. AmeriCorps members take this on full-time, committing to 300 service hours over the course of the summer, and this year, CFEC had the pleasure of hosting WFU student Katie Posnanski as our assigned AmeriCorps member.

Katie brought her energy and dedication to CFEC in both the classroom and the office, surpassing her 300-hour commitment along the way. Whether she was working directly with our students or supporting the team behind the scenes, she quickly became a trusted part of how we operate day to day.

It became clear pretty quickly that this was a mutual fit - not just a great experience for Katie, but a genuine benefit to our CFEC community. In fact, the experience was so great that we couldn't let her go! We're thrilled to share that Katie is joining our staff team this fall as a Floater teacher. We couldn't be happier to welcome her fully into the CFEC family.

We're so grateful to WFU and the AmeriCorps Program for making this partnership possible, and to Katie for the heart she brought to every part of her service. Here's to more summers like this one!
