Resources for Families

Family Support Network of Greater Forsyth – providing support, information, community resources and parent connections for families who have children with disabilities in Forsyth county and the surrounding area.


NC Department of Human Health Services/DSS – social services including nutrition services, energy assistance and child care subsidy for low income families and Short-Term Financial Assistance for Families in Crisis.


Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) evaluates children birth to 36 months   for developmental delays and offers early intervention services and therapies to children who live in Forsyth, Davidson, Davie, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties.


Family Support Network Of NC  a network of 11 programs across NC that provide  families who have children with special needs with information, referrals, and caring connections.


Triad First in Families offers support/resources to families and individuals in Forsyth, Davie and Stokes Counties with TBI or developmental disabilities.


Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center  NC Parent training and information for parents of exceptional children, including webinars and printable resources and phone consults with parent educators.


Cardinal Innovations Healthcare A Managed Care Organization helping people and families with intellectual or developmental disabilities to receive the care and coverage they need to be able to be part of the community.

(We encourage parents to apply for the Innovations Waiver  as soon as possible due to a long waiting list)


Cap-C/DMA Provides In-home aide and pediatric personal care services  to medically fragile children from birth through 20 years of age.


Duke Law  A Parents Guide that explains the special education law in clear terms so that parents can learn the vocabulary and navigate the special education system.


Social Security/Disability

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources.


Sibling Support Project National program dedicated to the life-long and ever-changing concerns of millions of brothers and sisters of people with special health, developmental, and mental health concerns. Local Sibshop hosted by Family Support Network of Greater Forsyth


Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network Provides support and information to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Piedmont area.


NC Early Intervention and Early Childhood Libraries materials related to Early Intervention and Early Childhood Education for families/providers of exceptional children FREE of charge to check out.


Autism Society Of NC  Support for individuals with autism and their families , while educating communities.


The Enrichment Center  empowering the lives of adults with disabilities through art, education and employment.  We encourage interested parents to register their children as soon as possible due to waiting list.


Easter Seals  Organization that maximizes persons with disabilities potential to live, learn, work, and play in their communities.


ABC OF NC  Provider of diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families.
