Special Touch Hospital Outreach
Supporting families through the most difficult times
Our Special Touch Hospital Outreach program is designed to support families of children with special needs who are undergoing hospitalization. We work closely with the excellent staff of the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) to provide support to families who have infants in the NICU at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center.
If you are a family member or caregiver of a child with special needs in the NICU at one of these locations, a Family Support Coordinator is available to help provide emotional support, resources & information, and a referral for a Support Parent or other appropriate resources in your family’s home county.
We encourage you to contact us to arrange a meeting with a Family Support Coordinator.
Chat & Snack is a program that provides an opportunity for families of children at Brenner Children’s Hospital (WFBMC) or Forsyth Medical Center, particularly those in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), to visit, eat, and connect with other families. Information and resources are always available. Sessions are held once each month at both hospital locations. We encourage you to contact us with questions or view the event details for information on how to get involved. Volunteers from the community, civic clubs, or church groups are always needed to provide food or to help set up and serve.
NICU Parent Groups are held at Brenner Children’s Hospital (WFBMC) and Forsyth Medical Center twice each month. Different craft activities are planned each week and a light snack is provided. Support groups offer parents a chance to relax in an informal atmosphere and visit with other NICU parents and a trained support parent who has “been there” in the NICU environment. We encourage you to contact us with questions or view the event details for information on how to get involved.
