The CFEC Summer Program is off and running! So far we have explored our sense of smell with different scents (thanks to Kelly Solesbee – former nurse at The Special Children’s School), seen and heard a police car (thanks to Mike Crider – Bryan Crider’s dad), learned about finding art in nature and made sun catchers with JoAnn Yates (Horticultural Therapist at The Children’s Center), had a Wacky Wednesday 5th of July patriotic parade on our campus, listened to a variety of songs from vocalist Willard Tanner (Zion’s great-grandfather), heard some lovely ukulele music, thanks to Sarah Jane Martin (daughter of Shawn Martin), and enjoyed a special performance from the Winston Salem Girl’s Chorus (under the direction of Anne Saxon). We have also thoroughly enjoyed our visits with Zuri the therapy dog, thanks to Dr. Joel Gendelman. In between visits from our special guest artists, many pieces of beautiful and unique artwork are being created by our children. The staff and children have been very busy this summer!
