The BB&T Lighthouse Project team, spearheaded by Chad Reuille, is creating a Songbird Garden and building a pergola for our Sensory Garden at The Special Children’s School. Members of Chad’s IT Department came from not only Winston-Salem, but also Charlotte and Raleigh to participate. The team cleared the beds for the Songbird and Butterfly Garden, pulling up a number of very old junipers around our campus. They planted our Songbird and Butterfly Garden, putting in blueberry, fig and raspberry bushes. They also added perennials, butterfly bushes, and grasses. These garden areas will offer many different textures for the children to experience and lots of yummy fruit. The team is now in the process of completing a pergola for our Sensory Garden. This wonderful addition to our garden will add a tranquil space for our children and staff to gather. Thank you to Chad and his team for all they have done to beautify the school grounds!
